How to properly prepare a mortar for laying bricks

Tips

During the construction of buildings, brick is used, which belongs to a building material characterized by high strength, durability and attractiveness. In order for the brick to be better fastened to each other when laying, you need to knead a high-quality mortar. Otherwise, the masonry will be uneven, and the building may undergo deformation and further destruction.

What should be the solution – requirements: – The solution should have a plastic consistency. This will help the mass fill in all the cracks and voids in the brick;

– High strength of the solution is one of the important criteria for solidification;

– The bonding time of the substances should vary from one and a half to five hours. During this period, it is necessary to use the solution.

What does the concrete solution consist of?

– Water is used only clean, which should not contain oils, debris and other impurities. Cold tap water is ideal for this purpose. Stick to temperature conditions. In winter, it is worthwhile to warm up the water, and in the summer, knead cold water.

– The sand is taken cleaned, necessarily sifted through a fine sieve. The sand should be clean, free of clay, pieces of earth and stones. River sand is ideal.

– Cement is a bonding material, one of the most important in mortar. It is impossible to make a solution without it. The higher the marking number of the cement, the less raw material is needed. Popular brands of cement M400, pay attention to the varieties of PC 2, ShPTs 3.

– Soap or liquid detergent for the elasticity of the solution.

– Lime is added in order for the solution to act for at least five hours in a plastic state.

Recommendation: If you want to achieve a gray solution, you need to add a little soot or graphite to it.

A variety of solutions for building a house:

– Limestone – after hardening it becomes brittle, because of this it is used less often for the construction of high-rise buildings. He has a low warmth;

– Cement-limestone has low strength, while it is quite plastic, and also has excellent adhesion properties to bricks;

– Cement-clay is not as strong as cement.

– The cement slurry is the most durable and rigid in terms of characteristics. It is used for the construction of multi-storey buildings. There are practically no restrictions in the application.
