60,000 union members representing film and television crews protested. The main reasons for a strike are considered to be injustice and non-compliance with the requirements of working conditions. This will lead to a major shutdown of the filming process.
The situation is complicated by the fact that only recently the industry has returned to work, after the COVID-19 pandemic, it has accelerated the pace of work, has led to non-compliance with labor standards.
The film crews are unhappy with overtime work, erratic rates, low wages and the absence of a banal meal break.
It is reported to be the first strike in IATSE history in 128 years.
